MISS SHIVAREE PAGEANT PARTICIPATE AGREEMENT

THE FOLLOWING EXPECTATIONS ARE BASED ON NORMAL CONSIDERATIONS OF PAGEANT PARTICIPATION.
THIS IS A HOMETOWN PAGEANT, NOT “TODDLERS AND TIARAS.”
Participants MUST meet age requirements by the date of the pageant of the competition year.
Participants MUST reside in or attend school in Coryell County.
Participants MUST participate in planned program as coordinated by pageant director.
Participants MUST maintain standards normally appropriate with respect to dress, language, courtesy,
cleanliness, manners and sportsmanship. This includes respectful and appropriate behavior on social networking
sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.
Parents MUST emulate good sportsmanship and be an example for their children. ANY DEROGATORY
STATEMENTS OR DISRESPECTFUL REMARKS MADE BY PARENTS/GUARDIANS ABOUT THE PAGEANT, THE WINNERS OR THE VOLUNTEERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND COULD RESULT IN YOUR CHILD BEING BANNED FROM PARTICIPATION IN THE PAGEANT. POSITIVE FEEDBACK IN ENCOURAGED, HOWEVER DEROGATORY STATEMENTS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
Participants MUST avoid use of any tobacco, alcohol or other illegal substances. Participants MUST avoid roughness or
other behaviors that might harm chamber furnishings and other participants and volunteers.
If awarded a title, titleholders MUST inform pageant director of any illness, accident, or schedule conflicts that will
cause them to miss a scheduled event/appearance. NO MORE THAN 2 ABSENCES WILL BE ALLOWED FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR.
In the event of inappropriate behavior, the participant will be counseled about the misconduct and may be banned from
participating in said event. This includes all events and parades. In the event of extreme misconduct, a meeting will be held with participant and parents. The participant will be dismissed from their title and will be required to forfeit any title, scholarship and prizes.
Young ladies accepting the title in each division MUST understand that they are representing the Chamber at all times.
Moreover, they MUST understand that they are a role model for other young ladies in the community. If participants marry, use
illegal substances or become pregnant, they will be required to forfeit their title and all prizes.
Titleholders from the previous year’s pageant MUST be moving up to the next division to be able to compete in the pageant
again. If not moving up to the next division, participants may enter the same division that they have previously won only if they have skipped a year of participation.
In the event that a titleholder cannot fulfill her duties for the entire year, the first runner-up will become the titleholder and
the same rules will apply.
Each titleholder is expected to attend and represent the Chamber at various events as designated by the pageant director and Chamber of Commerce. Since participating in out of town parades is no longer required, it is expected that the titleholders will participate in various events in the community (Shivaree 2020 and Shivaree 2021 are manditory; other events include Spur Fest, Christmas Parade, Chamber Banquet, Harlem Ambassidor Game/Circus, ect.) throughout the year in order represent the Chamber of Commerce and our wonderful community as well as emulate for other youth how to give back to their community.
The rehearsal/information meeting is mandatory in order to be able to participate. There must be a representative for the
contestant present at the meeting in the event that the contestant cannot be there.
A photo of the contestant must be submitted with entry packet in order to be able to participate in the pageant.
PHOTOS MUST BE TURNED TURNED IN TO THE GATESVILLE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OR MOO"S BOUTIQUE. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
The judges will select one Shiny Girl Award winner for the entire pageant. The winner of this award is the one contestant in
the entire pageant whose inner beauty was as apparent as their outer beauty. The People’s Choice Award winner is voted on by those attending the pageant - $1.00 per vote – and is awarded to only one contestant in the entire pageant.
