About Orange Sky
Orange Sky is a not-for-profit organisation focused on the provision of free laundry and showers to people experiencing homelessness. We're growing, and fast. Since 2014, we've expanded our reach to every capital city in Australia and most recently, we have established Orange Sky New Zealand. Next steps include further growth in New Zealand, urban and remote Australia, and potentially elsewhere across the globe.
We love sharing stories. Over the last four years, we’ve positively connected thousands of people simply by sharing stories and starting conversations.
This role will oversee both the Fundraising and Brand & Communications teams at Orange Sky; driving our strategy and performance to support our goals of positively connecting communities. It’s a tough one to define, but the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will:
Make things happen.
You’ll lead two very diverse teams of people, and drive and facilitate effective collaboration between the Fundraising & Growth team, Brand & Communications team and across the organisation. You’ll oversee Orange Sky’s campaign delivery across all funding streams, collaborate and assist the Finance team with budgeting, forecasting and reporting. Juggling projects and balancing competing priorities is your superpower.
Plan things out.
Life at Orange Sky is seriously fun, fast-paced and energetic. We enjoy challenging the norms and we value innovation. Recognising the need for a ‘behind the scenes’, internally facing role, the CMO will help us continue to build our brand strategy, and lead the evolution of fundraising at Orange Sky. You’ll be heavy on processes and executing strategy, yet fluid in your approach to getting things done – curveballs don’t discourage you, because you’ve mastered the art of mapping the steps involved to achieve targets and lead people to an outcome. You’re not afraid to sometimes be the bad guy and say ‘no’, or ‘not now’. A pragmatic approach to tying all fundraising and branding streams together will come from your extensive experience in similar roles.
Lead, and lead well.
This role will bring a level of maturity to lead a team of big personalities with even bigger goals; adjusting management and leadership approaches to best support the team, individual goal setting and empowering people will come naturally to you. You have an innate ability to recognise potential in people and a knack for drawing it out. Encouraging and channelling creativity into a strategic, structured approach will be key in this role, but never at the expense of our core mission and values.
Convinced this is the role for you?
We need someone who can think outside the box, and understand our unique environment. You’ll thrive on the challenge of something new. Not-for-profit experience is great, but not essential. You will come from a sales management, fundraising or marketing background at executive level, with proven experience in managing a large, diverse team.
