    2x 2 hours, delivered on Microsoft Teams

    Learn how to stay safe online at these short online free workshops. This session is delivered remotely and is available to all workers in Scotland. This is a great way to up your cyber security knowledge and confidence. You don’t need any technical knowledge or experience to take part.

    The course will be run over two 2-hour sessions (4 hours in total). You’ll get a certificate to recognise your learning and earn a practical cyber security badge.

    Open to all workers in Scotland, these workshops are ideally suited for Union Learning Reps and tutors who are keen to develop their own skills and want to share this knowledge with colleagues.

     
    Tools for Staying Secure Online (2 hours)

    In this session, you’ll learn:

    📧 How to spot and protect yourself from scam websites and emails (phishing).

    🌐 How to use Virtual Private Network software to keep your connection secure.

    🔐 How to set up and use Password Managers - a way to securely create and store passwords.

    2️⃣ How to turn on and use Two Factor Authentication - one of the most effective ways at securing your accounts.

     
    Tools for Resilience and Recovery (2 hours)
    Wednesday 21 September 10:00 - 12:00

    In this session, you'll learn:

    🦠 How to choose and use antimalware software to protect against viruses, worms, and trojans.

    ✅ How to perform software updates on your computers, phones, and tablets to keep them fast and secure.

    🔒 How to turn on encryption on your computer - the strongest way to protect your data.

    💽 How to backup and restore your documents, photos, and videos in case of the worst.
