Join us every Thursday at 10.30am as we take you on a guided walk around West Bay.
Different walks are available as follows:
Step into the Jurassic Past (2 hours) - Led by expert geologist Robert Chandler, this walk along the shoreline near Burton Bradstock will discover the creatures of the area’s Jurassic age and visit a world now long-gone. For this walk please meet at Freshwater Beach Holiday Car Park. £5 min donation - cash only. Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult and the walk is unsuitable for young children, no dogs please. Owing to the terrain covered by the walk, walkers will be asked to sign a declaration accepting personal liability and also to wear appropriate footwear.
West Bay's Hidden History Walk (0.5 miles, 1.5 hours, Grade: Very easy) - Discover West Bays hidden history with us. (Due to popularity we have added a Sunday date for this walk- please see schedule below).
West Cliff and Eype Walk (2.5 miles, 2 hours, Grade: Medium - good terrain but some steep gradients) - Discover the fascinating landscape between West Bay and Eype.
River and Railway Walk - (2 miles, 1.5 hours, Grade: Easy - one slope to the crest of the beach) Discover the history of the old West Bay railway and the beautiful flora and fauna along the River Brit.
Stormy Seas and Crumbly Cliffs Walk - (1.5 miles, 1.5 hours, Grade: Easy) Discover how the weather has shaped West Bay through time and how the challenges of rain, wind and coastal erosion have been met.
West Bay Memories (0.5 miles, 1.5 hours, Grade: Very easy) - Join local historian and author Elizabeth Gale as she takes you on a walk down West Bay's Memory Lane.
Harbour to Holidays (0.5 miles, 1.5 hours, Grade: Very easy) - Discover the development of Bridport harbour from its earliest days to its demise as a trading port and how West Bay as a tourist destination was developed in its place.
